Infinite Deviation brings creativity and technology together in unexpected ways — changing the way people think and encouraging inclusion in STEM.

We Make + Google = Infinite Possibilities

Infinite Deviation is an ongoing partnership between Google and We Make that brings creativity and technology together in unexpected ways -- changing the way people think, and encouraging inclusion in STEM.

Infinite Deviation began in 2015 as a film collaboration between Google Computer Science (CS) in Media, whose work strives to create more favorable perceptions of CS across industries and demographics, and We Make, a creative collective that connects talent with opportunity. The Infinite Deviation: Shorts series currently consists of six short films written and directed by We Make members, each telling a story that defies stereotypes about computer science with the goal of encouraging young people from all backgrounds to consider a career in STEM. The films — whose crews have all featured women in leadership roles — have screened at the Cannes International Film Festival, the Tribeca Film Festival, and TERMINUS Conference & Festival.

Following the success of the short films, Infinite Deviation expanded to include the world of game design in 2017. Infinite Deviation: Games is a partnership between Google Play, Google CS in Media, and We Make that supports inclusive stories and emerging voices in game development. This unique program is a chance for emerging game designers from all backgrounds to pitch and develop a game with an inclusive story, publish and promote it with Google Play, and change the way people see the gaming industry.
