Vertical Slice Delivery
This is a proof of concept that demonstrates a sample of the final art and gameplay of the game. Exactly what a vertical slice entails varies depending on the game. For instance, it might be a single level in a puzzle or platform game, but it should give a good idea of what the final product will be like.
Alpha Game Delivery
At this point, the game is feature complete, although there may still be occasional bugs, or some rough assets. Any gameplay changes from this point forward should be tweaks only.
Beta Game Delivery
The game is basically finished at this point, and ready for rigorous testing so that any bugs, glitches, or exploits can be identified and fixed before final submission.
Gold Game Delivery
The game is ready to be published on Google Play.

Who can apply to this program?
Infinite Deviation: Games is open to emerging game designers living in the United States who are at least 18 years old. We are looking to support game designers in the beginning of their careers, so we request that applicants have less than two years of professional experience in the game industry, and not currently be working for a game development company. School work does not count as professional experience. We also strive to promote inclusion in the game industry, so designers from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply!
Does my game concept need to have a certain theme or topic?
Nope, you can make a game on any topic you like! However, we will be looking for inclusive voices and storylines in both the target audience and the content of your game. Concepts must be for original mobile games, and must not currently be under development. Games in the concepting stage or that started as student assignments or at game jams are eligible. Please avoid excessively violent, derogatory, or sexual content.
What is included in the application process?
Your team will submit one application form under the team leader’s name that should include a detailed description of your concept; your plan for executing the concept; your team’s background and experience; a budget outline; a timeline and description of key deliverables; and any additional materials that help to illustrate your concept. Click the “Submit Now” button for the application!
What are the application judging criteria?
Applications will be judged for the composition and aptitude of the development team; the creativity, originality, and consideration of the mobile platform in the game concept and design; inclusivity of the storyline and appeal to a multicultural audience; the scope of the production plan; and consideration of the tools and technology required to make your game.
What is the selection process for the final three game concepts?
Applications will be reviewed by a panel of industry experts, with the Top 25 applicants receiving personal feedback on their concepts for future development. The three winners will be selected by the panel and Google Play employees.
What resources and support will my team receive if selected?
The three winning teams will receive funding to support your game, project management guidance and regular check-ins from a dedicated Game Producer, and promotional support from Google Play.
What will be expected from my team during development?
Your team will be required to maintain regular communication with the project Game Producer at least once a week, and meet any agreed upon deadlines for deliverables. Teams will also be requested to document their process and progress in written and/or video logs.
How long will I have to make my game?
The three winning teams will have until mid-May 2018 to develop their games for publication on Google Play.
Who owns the final games?
You will own the rights to anything you create and publish through the program.
